Why a laser for tattoo removal?

Laser tattoo removal is becoming increasingly popular, as people look for ways to get rid of unwanted ink. There are a number of reasons why someone might choose to remove a tattoo, including job prospects, personal preference, or simply because they’ve outgrown the design.

Lasers are effective for removing tattoos because they can target specific pigments with high precision. This means that there is less damage to the surrounding tissue, and the risk of side effects is much lower than with other tattoo removal methods, and it usually requires fewer sessions to see results.

Lasers can also be used to remove tattoos that have been resistant to other treatments, such as surgery or topical creams. If you are considering laser tattoo removal, it is important to find a reputable and experienced provider who has the appropriate equipment and training.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

When the laser light beam is directed into tattoo underneath the skin, tattoo ink which acts as a pigment absorbs light energy and breaks down into smaller fragments and particles. Smaller fragments of tattoo are then metabolised and removed from the body.

Is the procedure painful?

You may feel slight discomfort during the laser procedure. However topical numbing cream will be applied prior to the treatment to increase patient comfort. Generally patient tolerates the laser procedure well.

What can I expect from laser tattoo removal?

The tattoo removal process will be influenced by the skin’s colour, depth of the pigment in the tattoo and colour of the tattoo.

The number of sessions will differ depending on the size and colour of your tattoo. Three to eight visit or more, may be necessary to completely remove your tattoo.

Superficial tattoos may require lesser number of sessions, while larger and deeper tattos require more.

Any tattoo requires a number of treatments and visits. The tattoo should get lighter following each treatment.
